Court Practices & Legal Terminology

This course will cover the Federal and State court processes and procedures, from the arraignment to the sentencing hearing; the roles of the Trial and Appellate Court judges; types of cases - criminal, civil, family court, and juvenile court; steps involved in preparing complaints, motions, and orders; the constitutional principles that guide the court process and the roles and responsibilities of court personnel; legal terminology used in all aspects of a case; and the Santa Barbara County Superior Court rules and schedule of court services. NOTE: OP-514, OP-515, OP-516 have been combined into this one class. This class now satifies the requirement for all three.
